Rock wool sandwich panel

Product features

Fire prevention: Rock wool is made from minerals such as basalt and is classified as an A-level non-combustible material. It can effectively prevent the spread of fire and enhance building safety. With A melting point exceeding 1000°C, it can provide passive fire protection

Thermal insulation: Rock wool has a low thermal conductivity, which can effectively reduce heat transfer, improve the insulation effect of buildings, and lower energy consumption.

Sound insulation: The porous structure of rock wool can absorb sound waves and reduce noise transmission, making it suitable for places that require sound insulation.

Corrosion resistance: Rock wool has stable chemical properties, is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, and is suitable for various environments with a long service life.

High compressive strength: Rock wool has a dense structure and high compressive strength, making it suitable for applications that require load-bearing.

Introduction

Rock wool sandwich panels are made by wrapping A-level non-combustible rock wool cores with high-strength steel plates, integrating light weight, high strength and flame resistance. With low thermal conductivity, high sound insulation and a fire resistance limit far exceeding the standard, it builds an impregnable safety line for the roof. It is lightweight yet resistant to wind lifting, weathering and impact, significantly reducing the structural burden. Quick installation, formaldehyde-free and harmless, one-time laying, and worry-free maintenance throughout the entire life cycle. Whether it is industrial plants, civil buildings, public buildings or clean workshops, it can be easily handled and is a popular choice for modern roof fire prevention, energy conservation and insulation.

ASTM C665: Specification for thermal insulation of Mineral Fiber blankets

ISO 1182 / ISO 1716: Fire resistance test

Installation and operation precautions

The substructure: The roof supports must be sufficient to bear the self-weight of the panels and loads such as wind and snow, while reserving space for deformation due to thermal expansion and contraction.

Panel connection: Select matching fasteners and compatible sealants to form a continuous barrier, which takes into account wind and rain protection as well as thermal bridge isolation.

Handling: Handle with care to avoid bumps to the rock wool core and metal finish, and keep the panel intact.

Vapor barrier: Continuously lay the vapor barrier to prevent moisture from entering and causing a decline in insulation performance.

Fire safety: All auxiliary materials must meet the corresponding fire resistance grades to ensure the overall fire resistance performance of the system.

Maintenance: Regularly inspect the coating corrosion, mechanical damage and the integrity of the sealant. Timely handling can significantly extend the service life.

Engineering principles and installation guidelines

I. Structural Design
The purlin spacing, slab span and rock wool core thickness should be determined based on local wind, earthquakes and roof live loads. The density of the outer steel plate, inner steel plate and core material should be matched, and the deflection control should take the strictest value specified in the specification.

Ii. Best Practices for Installation
Purlins/frames must be vertical and square. Plates should be fixed with stainless steel nails and hidden brackets and equipped with anti-corrosion washers. The joints should be filled with A-level fireproof sealant and flame-retardant tape should be applied. The tenon and groove openings should be aligned to break the thermal bridge. Edge banding glue and waterproof coating should be added to the ends of the boards in the damp areas. Sliding expansion joints are set every 12 to 15 meters on the roof, and rock wool thermal break strips are inserted inside to adapt to temperature differences. The fire resistance rating is maintained by using the same material rock wool for the edges of the openings and light-transmitting strips, aluminum sheaths and fireproof glue on the inner side. The system adopts tenon and groove or hidden fastening to ensure airtightness and stability. All edges are sealed to prevent moisture. It is a non-load-bearing enclosure and can be used on walls, ceilings or roofs.

Iii. Safety and Environmental Protection
The board is of Grade A non-combustible and still needs to be treated with non-combustible finishes as required by the project.
When cutting, wear a dust mask, goggles and gloves. Use a vacuum Angle grinder and ensure ventilation. Keep the dust concentration below the limit.
Rock wool debris should be independently collected and bagged, and recycled by qualified units. Incineration or mixing with general garbage for landfill is strictly prohibited.
